Barack Obama Retakes Oath of Office

January 22, 2009

Yesterday, President Barack Obama retook the oath of office, due to the fact that a he said a word out of order on inauguration day.  Here’s a video, courtesy of the BBC, of the oath of office:

And here’s a transcript of what happened, the bolded parts are areas where something went wrong:

ROBERTS: I, Barack Hussein Obama…
OBAMA: I, Barack…
ROBERTS: … do solemnly swear…
OBAMA: I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear…
ROBERTS [faithfully is out of order]: … that I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully…
OBAMA: … that I will execute…
ROBERTS [faithfully is in the right spot]: … faithfully the office of president of the United States…
OBAMA: … the office of president of the United States faithfully…
ROBERTS: … and will to the best of my ability…
OBAMA: … and will to the best of my ability…
ROBERTS: … preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
OBAMA: … preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
ROBERTS: So help you God?
OBAMA: So help me God.
ROBERTS: Congratulations, Mr. President.

While a lot of people have made fun of Robertsfor slipping up, it should be  noted that Obama interrupted him first, and that’s what probably threw Robert’s off, leading him to mess up the “faithfully” part.

Some Constitutional experts said that it was OK because he still said all of the words with their meanings still in tact, but the President wanted to make sure that everything was all right, so he had the oath re-administered.  I agree with him – if he hadn’t have done that, we’d have conspiracy nuts talking about him not being our rightful President for the next 4 years.

When Roberts asked President Obama, “Are you ready to take the oath?” Obama replied, “I am, and we’re going to do it very slowly.”

Again, it was the right move, even if unecessary, to avoid conflict down the road.

Navy Wants to Spend $600,000 to Fix a Building’s Cosmetic “Error”

September 27, 2007

The following is a picture from Google Earth of the Coronado U.S. Naval Base in southern California:

That’s right – it appears to be a swastika.  Originally, it was one “L”-shaped building, and then the other 3 were added.  There are 4 separate buildings but from the air, it appears as one swastika-shaped building.  The original controversy died down, but recently, with the mass use of Google Earth, politically correct bloggers (barfing sound), conspiracy theorists and anti-discrimination activists have hitched on to the bandwagon.

The Navy is now planning on spending $600,000 to cover it up with solar panels, and landscaping techniques.

Now – why aren’t the Democrats complaining about the cost of the Iraq war complaining about this .6 billion dollar expense?

And why is the Navy giving in?  It’s these types of expenses that are killing the state of Michigan (not Navy stuff like this – I’m talking about the principle of completely useless spending).

It’s a building – and the way it was designed it looks like a controversial image – but it’s not – it’s 4 separate buildings – so get over it, and get on to REAL problems in the Navy (i.e.: the “Don’t ask, don’t tell policy”).

9/11 Conspiracy Theorists: The Scum of the Earth

August 26, 2007

OK – so the History Channel had a show on yesterday about morons who flunked out of pre-school 9/11 Conspiracy Theorists, but WordPress was doing maintenance (probably a good thing – b/c it would’ve been very hard to keep this post clean).  These people are just heartless freaks!

1) Most of their arguments were easily beaten into the ground by pure logic, as well as expert opinions.

2) They’ve had to revise their web-videos 2 times to edit out points that were later solidly proved wrong that made them look like idiots (and they admitted to this).

3) They went to ground zero, and got into verbal fights with family members as well as coworkers of the victims in the towers and emergency responders who lost their lives DAYS AFTER the attacks – these people are even worse than the scum that goes to funerals of military men and women to protest the war.

Some of the cops who got into arguments with them were so visibly angered – and, honestly, I wouldn’t have had the patience they did – I probably would’ve arrested or tazered one of these terrorists – and that’s truly what they are – the terrorise the family of the victims, as well as the government trying to protect us.

OK – now I’ve gotten heated up again, so I should just stop before I start cussing.
